Sheriff of New York Is in Buffalo
Has a Look at Czolgosz and Does Not Recognize Him as Anarchist.
William F. Grell, who is Sheriff of New York
county [sic], was closeted with Supt. Bull for some minutes this morning. Subsequently
he told a reporter for the NEWS that he had been in Buffalo for a week, attending
the Exposition, and that he had called upon Gen. Bull to see if he could be
of any assistance and to see if he could identify the prisoner as connected
with any anarchist groups in New York. This, he said, he was unable to do.
Capt. Wisser of the 7th Regiment, a corporal and
a private of his company also called upon Supt. Bull this morning and their
statements were taken. All were near the President in the Temple of Music when
the shooting occurred.
