—Leon F. Czolgosz is placed on trial in Buffalo for the murder of President McKinley. The prisoner enters a plea of “guilty,” which is changed to “not guilty” by direction of the court. The jury was quickly secured, and the prosecution presented a large part of its evidence. [omit] ——The nine anarchists under arrest in Chicago since the shooting of President McKinley are released, there being no legal evidence against them. [omit] ——For the third day in succession Mrs. McKinley takes two drives, accompanied by Dr. Rixey. [omit]
