Overheard a Plot


To Hypnotize Czolgoz, and Eventually Landed in Jail.

     Milwaukee, Wis., September 23.—Edward Hobart has been arrested at Juneau, Wis., charged with having mail[e]d an ob[s]cene letter.
Te saysc [sic] that while he was staying [a]t a hotel in Waterloo, Wis., he overheard two men who occupied the room next to him reciting the manner in which they hypnoti[zed] Czolgoz, who [a]ssassinated President McKinley, and compelled him to commit the deed. He says he wrote letters to the police, but they failed to act and he wrote the missive which causer [sic] his arrest.
