Present at Tragedy
Special to Leader.
Laramie, Wyo., Sept. 9.—Jesse Converse of this
city was at Buffalo on Friday and was a visitor at the exposition grounds at
the time. He and his wife had shaken hands with the president but a moment or
two before, and while he was not on the exact spot, he was near enough to hear
the shots and witness the excitement occasioned by the attempt at assassination.
He says the whole city was thrown into gloom of the deepest kind by the attempted
assassination.
