Hallowe’en Celebrated [excerpt]
Special to Times-Republican.
Nevada, Nov. 1.—Hallowe’en was celebrated in the
usual style here last night. The only variation from tipping over outbuildings,
throwing corn, etc., was the hanging of Czolgosz in effigy to a telephone pole
near the court house, while stretched across Main street [sic] farther down
was a rope to which was hung in mid-air a genuine coffin bearing a placard with
this announcement: “Here lies Czolgosz and anarchy,” and beneath it the name
of one of our prominent undertakers.
