Senator Penrose’s Wild Ride to Attend Funeral
Philadelphia, Sept. 18.—After a race of three days on horseback through the wilds of Idaho and four and a half days on railroad trains, United States Senator Penrose arrived home at midnight and left this morning for Canton to attend the funeral of President McKinley. Senator Penrose had been on a two months’ hunting trip in the west and he started for the east the moment the news of the shooting of the president was conveyed to him. He was accompanied on his trip to Canton by Attorney-General John P. Elkin.
