The Passing Hour [excerpt]

     The two lawyers who were assigned to defend Czolgosz are entitled to public sympathy, but having accepted the task, it was their duty to do their best for their client. Counsel for the defence is an essential part of the machinery of justice in a murder trial, and is as honourable a part as the judge on the bench. They are making their aversion to their client a little too manifest.
