Descriptive text accompanying the photograph reads as follows: “The
saloon of Joseph Karwocki [sic], which was operated a few years ago by
the father of Leon Czolgosz. The hall above this place is where the anarchists
met and where the would-be assassin received his first lessons in anarchy.
Paul Czolgosz now disclaims all knowledge of having been associated with
anarchists.”
