October 28, which has been name [sic], for the electrocution of the assassin, Czolgosz, is the earliest date at which the sentence could be inflicted under the law. It is early enough to suit the demands of justice. This date will be about six weeks after President McKinley’s death, while forty weeks passed between the death of President Garfield and the execution of Guiteau. The speed shown in the Czolgosz case as compared with the 1881 miscreant pleases the country.
