The proposal to refuse burial to Czolgosz is simply an attempted revival of the bad old system of driving stakes through suicides. It would be far more practical and Yankee-like—if madiæval [sic] practices are to be introduced at all—to try the effect of, say thumb screws on the living Anarchist to make him disclose his accomplices, rather than wreak a childish vengeance on the dead.
