A Protector of Presidents [excerpt]

Until after President McKinley was shot, the President never had a personal bodyguard. Then came Sloan and others and systematic protection. No man ever will be able to approach another President as did Czolgoz. He carried a revolver wrapped in a handkerchief. Every man who now approaches a President must have both hands in plain view.
