THE PARIS MKINLEY FUND.
The Paris McKinley Memorial Fund was added to April 15, when a matinée performance was given at the Opera Comique. The program consisted of selections and scenes from operas and plays, recitations and a ballet, in which appeared the leading members of the companies of the Opéra Comique and the Opéra, the three Coquelins, Sarah Bernhardt, Mme. [sic] Fugère, and Mme. Réjane. At the close of the performance “The Star-Spangled Banner” was sung by Miss Ellen Beach Yaw of San Francisco. The “Marsellaise” [sic] was also sung. All the artists were warmly applauded, and there were many recalls. The large audience included President Loubet, U. S. Ambassador Porter, Robert S. McCormick, and many resident Americans and Parisians of social prominence. The fund now exceeds 50,000f.
