Salmagundi [excerpt]

Judge Carroll Cook of San Franci[s]co visited Cz[o]lgosz in his cell befor[e] hi[s] trial. He tells the Post th[a]t [t]he as[s]as[s]in’s name shou[l]d be prono[u]n[ce]d as if it we[r]e spelled “Scholgo[s]z.” Y[o]u can [t]ake your choice in the [p]ublishe[d] pronounciations [sic] of the a[ss]as[s]in’[s] name and call it “Shawlgo[s]ch,” “[S]loss,” “S[c]holgo[s]z” or any old th[i]ng[.] “Scholgo[s]z” seems [t]o be a reas[o]nable pronunciation of the n[ame].
