Good Museum
Exhibited Here Last Monday by Colonel Crawford.
Col. Crawford, representing Van Amberg [sic] & Company, museum kings, arrived in Carlisle Monday morning with two gayly decorated cars and established his wonderful museum, also called “Hereafter,” on the west corner of the public square. At night a colored man attracted a crowd with his singing, jokes and sleight-of-hand tricks, and then everybody bought tickets at ten cents apiece and went through the museum. Here were exhibited wax figures of William McKinley, Czolgosz, the assassin, Jim Parker, the colored man who knocked Czolgosz down, Pearl Bryan, her murderers, Jackson and Walling, with Father Lee, who was with them on the scaffold, and Pope Leo XIII. Old soldiers were admitted free and the wax figures were viewed by a large number of people, the general comment being that the show was worth the money.
