Blames Hanna More Than Czolgosz
Kentucky Democrat Shoots Off His Mouth in Great Shape.
Lexington, Ky., September 23.—Democratic State
Senator Charles J. Bronsten made the sensational statement here today that Hanna
was more guilty than Czolgosz.
He said in part: “Although I deplore the crime
as much as any one [sic] and only wish that the punishment which will be meted
out to Czolgosz could be more severe under the law, though I have not an iota
of sympathy for the wretch, Marcus A. Hanna is more guilty than the blood stained
human animal. I am not an advocate of assassination. The remedy is in the ballot.
“It is for us to see now with our ballots, that
the octopus money power ceases to stifle the life of the workingmen; that Wall
street [sic] no longer holds them in its arms to squeeze the life blood [sic]
out of them, or the time will come when the appeal to the rifle must be made.”
